I am Kurt W. Cannon. Being born, raised and living in Rabun County I appreciate the beauty of the mountains you come to enjoy. My family came to the mountains of Northeast Georgia in the 1700’s and some still live on the same land that was first settled. My wife, Malinda, and I were married in 1990 and now have 3 sons: Isaac 15, Luke 13 and Noah 8. We are members of Liberty Baptist Church. After working several years in construction through high school and college, in 1989 my dream of starting my own business was realized and the family business of Rabun Builders, Inc. was started. It is truly a family business with my wife Malinda and my two oldest sons Isaac and Luke and my brother Lance working with me. We now employ 15+ people. My specialty is custom mountain homes. The motto of Rabun Builders, Inc. is “From a little log cabin to a mansion on the mountain.” I have built my business on the values of honesty and integrity. Working with you to be sure your lot and home are a perfect match and that your dream of owing a beautiful home in the mountains becomes a reality is important to me. The experienced workers at Rabun Builders, Inc. pay attention to detail. I have built custom homes, spec homes and some commercial projects. Having the privilege of building my own church’s educational building and new sanctuary, (Liberty Baptist Church on Bridgecreek Rd., Tiger) was very special to me. I have had many projects over the years and I am not afraid to try new things. Being a positive influence has always been a core belief for me. Therefore I have volunteered as a mentor in the middle school and elementary school in past years. I serve on the boards of Rabun Medical Foundation, Home Builders Assoc. of GA, and Rabun Co. Home Builders Assoc. where I served as president. I am the Vice President/Treasure of the Home Builders Association of Georgia and the Gold Key Club of HBAG. I have also served on the board of the local Chamber of Commerce. My crew and I have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity I majored in forestry and wildlife management at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) in Tifton, GA. But I came back to what I love to do, that is creating beautiful homes. My experience at ABAC has given me the knoledge to do preparation of land and build with the respect of the enviroment as a major focus. Also graduating from the Coverdell Leadership Institute in June 2002, which was started by the late US Senator Paul Coverdell was a great learning experience for me. I also attended Leadership Rabun. |
